A research team led by Prof Yuan Zhen from the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS), University of Macau won the second runner-up of the overseas section at the 2017 Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition held at Zhuhai Southern Software Park.

The competition attracted 300 entries from universities and enterprises in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, and Singapore. Prof Yuan Zhen’s research team won the second runner-up of the overseas section and received a start-up funding for an innovative novel optical diagnosis and treatment system.  The award recognizes the impressive results in innovation and entrepreneurship of FHS.

The competition has been successfully held for three years. The theme for the competition this year is “Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau’s great achievements in the Greater Bay Area”. The main objective is to collect outstanding entrepreneurial projects in the fields of software and integrated circuits, internet and mobile internet, smart grid and new energy resources, biomedicine and medical devices, intelligent manufacturing and humanoid robots, smart industries and so on.
